Keep Search module within search results was created by shirrasoft
Hi, sorry to be a nuisance. I have added the search module for Custom Search within a module as in customproperties01.gif. When I search is there any way to keep the module on the left of the search results, (currently the search results cover the page width with no side module as in customproperties02.gif). I am going to remove the search button and put in a click event when the options are changed, so I need the search criteria to stay.
regards
Wayne

Screenshots are absent, but the explanation is clear enough.

You need to direct the results to a menu item that has the CP Search module assigned to.
Here's how to do that:

- Create a new menu.
- Let's call it "hidden"
- Add a menu item of type Custom Properties view = default.
- Name it with something meaningful, because it will show up in the URL (eg "advanced search")
- Save and take note of the Itemid of that menu item.
- Edit the cpsearch module (or the cpcloud module)
- Set the Itemid param to the previously noted Itemid
- Assign the module it to two pages : the one you want to search from, and the new "advanced search" page

Thanks for the reply Andrea. I still got a little bit stuck though...

- Create a new menu.
- Let's call it "hidden" created a menu called 'hidden' - under this I created 'advanced search'
- Add a menu item of type Custom Properties view = default. I think this is what confuses me the only option I get under Custom Properties in 'Menu Item Type' is 'Custom Properties Layout' and this can't be changed. I just cannot see anywhere else to put 'Custom Properties view = default'

- Name it with something meaningful, because it will show up in the URL (eg "advanced search")did this
- Save and take note of the Itemid of that menu item. Is this the text beside the heading 'link'
- Edit the cpsearch module (or the cpcloud module)
- Set the Itemid param to the previously noted Itemidfound where that should go
- Assign the module it to two pages : the one you want to search from, and the new "advanced search" page

I am so sorry I feel like a two year old asking these questions, but I hope you can help.
by the way I LOVE what you have done with this, it is exactly what I was looking for. This is where I am using it www.alliedbuildingcompanies.com/index.php/homedesigns

I too needed to know how this is done.

All the instructions are clear except the last one which says...

"Assign the module it to two pages : the one you want to search from, and the new "advanced search" page".

I think this means that the cpsearch module needs to be assigned to the newly created "advanced search" (hidden) menu item. That is done via the "Menu Assignment" tab within module editing. It appears to have solved the problem for me.

Thanks.
