Hi. I have a site that has about 80 houses for each region. There are four prices for each house, 1 for Kitset Build, Buying the shell only, Transportable and Full Build. There are 9 regions and each house will have slightly different prices in each region. What I want is a search page so they can choose for example the region, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 garage, kitset, from $60-70,000 price, and it will give a list of matching houses. The hard part is the price I think. I think I would have to set up a bunch of different properties, one for kitset, transportable etc with a list of prices under each one. Does that sound right? Then the customer would choose kitset price 60,000, none for transportable etc and that would work?

Second thing is I have set up the 80 house articles. After I add the custom properties to each one I plan to duplicate the lot into different joomla categories for each region. Will I then have to reset up all the custom properties or will they copy with the articles? Then I just have to change the prices.

Also, you don't happen to have an address where someone has set up something similar do you?

Thanks for your help and sorry for all the questions. I just don't want to get all the way through and find it won't work how I expect.

The example you provided looks like a clear case for a bespoke product configurator.
Alternately it could be possibly be addressed by some e-commerce platform, either Joomla based or stand alone.

Even if it is doable with the Joomla + Custom Properties setup you foresaw, the maintenance of the whole system looks nightmarish: duplicated products in multiple categories, quasi-duplicated tags, joomla articles instead of proper products, keeping multiple instances of the same house up-to-date, ...

To answers your last question, I have no direct knowledge of any site with a similar setup.

If I was in you I'll look further into e-commerce platforms (Joomla-based ones too) to be used as catalogue, for I know that some of them do have provision in place to handle options (your transport kits) and variants (climate).
